Climbing season is quickly approaching

Ahhh…Fall. When the insects and reptiles slink away into their prospective homes, and rest up for the next time when they plot to antagonize us and test our patience. Flowers bloom, the leaves turn and the climbers come out of their gym hibernation for some much needed face time with the rocks we love so much. The tinkering of belay devices, and the thumping of backpacks and crash pads hitting the ground. With fingers taped and chalk on hands we start the new season…
I am not much a sport climber, I prefer bouldering. But I did enjoy this route simply because of the jump start, and the mantle.

This was a diptych project for my drawing II class last semester. The assignment was to choose an interesting portrait photo and combine it with an abstract representation of what you think the person might be feeling or how it makes you feel. I chose a photo of Brandon Boyd from Incubus, and the abstraction represents an implosion of sorts.

Running off of the phrase “milk money” I decided to paint my teddy like a cow; and thus he was so named, Milk Munny.

Over 8o artists participated and the toys were all incredible. I had so much fun at the show and I’m so grateful I was able to participate. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support, I know it was a bit of a hassle with the rain. I submitted 3 toys (Two Munnys and a stuffed toy). For those of you who couldn’t make it out, there are plenty of pictures you can look at here, here, and here.
This toy is one of the three that I created for the Designers in Toyland show. This is Ocho the Octopus. Made from felt, thread, and stuffing. I’ll be posting the other two later on in the week.

This was just something for fun I did a while ago with colored pencils. I have an interest in comic books and the style in general.
